How We Chose Our Baby's Name

We went through alot of name suggestions for a girl; most were names from charaters from a movie or a book we had read. Alex and I both wanted a very feminem name, knowing how beautiful she was going to be. So we chose the most beautiful character, a Princess from the movie "A Knight's Tale", whom Alex crushed on. Her name was Jocelyn.

Her middle name is Amaiya,
which does not currently rank in the top 1000 names nor has any sort of profound meaning.
It is similar to the name Amaya, meaning 'Night Rain', origin being Japanese. And in sandscit, 'A Flower in Bloom'.
Now I've thought about this...
Imagine a tiny little flower blooming in the night rain. All the peril and hardship it must conquor, the hard knocks of the rain, the lonely darkness of the night... By sunrise morning, streching out her lovely petals, she is the strongest, bravest, and most remarkable flower to ever exist.

Suarez. It's the name of her father.
Alex and I are not married and don't share the same last name, so choosing out Jocelyn's last name was probably most difficult for us. We didn't want 'Vonschondorf' because I feel it is a dead name, not knowning it's origin and how it ties in with my family. My avidity of a last name is Cassady. And because Alex did not want to continue a generation of Suarezs', we origionally agreed to name her Cassady. It was until the day of her birth, at which Alex asked if she can be a Suarez. Of course, I agreed. Jocelyn is of Alex, she doesn't belong to just one of us, but both. I'm honored that he wanted her to have his name.

If we got particularly good service from a baby supplies store, or have a book that we think other future parents would enjoy, we might include a recommendation or web site link here.
